Overcoming oneself: Ibai Llanos' journey and how resistance bands are helping in his physical transformation 

The courage to change 

Changing habits isn't easy. It takes courage to break with routines and patterns we've followed for years, patterns that seem ingrained in our daily lives. A few months ago, Ibai Llanos decided to embark on a journey of physical transformation, demonstrating that true change has little to do with physical strength, but rather requires willpower, sacrifice, and a strong mindset to overcome obstacles. 

Ibai started from scratch, just like many others who decide to push their own limits. It's not just about wanting to look better, but about feeling better. The benefits of taking this step are countless. 

The challenges that transform the brain 

Facing physical challenges impacts not only the body but also the mind. Developing a new habit has a direct impact on our brain. When we repeat an action, like exercising, we create new neural connections that facilitate the formation of long-term habits. Over time, what began as a physical challenge becomes an essential part of daily life. And that's what Ibai shows us in each of his videos: consistency is key, and every day is a new opportunity to improve. 

Effort as a core value 

Ibai has made it clear that there are no shortcuts when it comes to improving your health. Every drop of sweat counts, every small step forward is significant. An essential exercise: running with added weight. 

Although we know Ibai has incorporated many tools into his routine, there's one exercise that stands out for its simplicity and effectiveness: weighted running . This exercise combines endurance and strength, making it ideal for improving cardiovascular capacity and strengthening the entire body. 

  • Instructions : The equipment must be positioned correctly. 1. The Murtra Sport belt should be placed below the navel/waist so that the resistance is applied to the hips and not the abdominal or lumbar area. 2. The resistance band should be attached to the belt and the weight in a straight line. 3. The weight should be heavy but manageable, taking into account any slippage on the floor, ensuring it is effective and safe. 
  • Repetitions : Perform this exercise in 30-second intervals of running and 30 seconds of rest, repeating 5 to 10 times. If our goal is metabolic and we're aiming for neuromuscular fatigue, we can perform sets of 10-15 seconds at maximum intensity, resting 30 seconds between sets, for a total of 6-8 sets. If we want to maintain the effort, we can take longer rest periods to allow us to sustain the intensity of the 10-15 second work intervals. On the other hand, if our goal is strength, we'll focus on execution, and the rest periods should be longer. 4-5 sets of 4-6 steps per side, with the maximum range of motion and purpose possible. 

Weighted running is perfect for those seeking a complete workout . The impact of this type of training is felt not only at the muscular level but also in overall health: improved cardiovascular health, increased energy, and greater agility are just some of the benefits.
